US BUYING RESEARCH · FACTUAL COMPARISON
Website accessibility tools: testing, monitoring and remediation
An automated scan, a developer testing tool and a managed remediation service solve different problems. Compare who finds barriers, who fixes them and who verifies the result. This first comparison covers four supplier families, not every accessibility product.
Ratings pending. Listed by buying approach, not score. Our editorial scale is /100; these products have not been assigned a rating.
Start with the work you need done
| Supplier | Approach | Useful when | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deque | developer testing; Monitor/Auditor separate modules | A development team needs checks in its browser or delivery workflow and can own remediation. | DevTools, Monitor and Auditor are separate scopes. The Web Bundle includes lifecycle integrations; a Pro subscription is not the entire portfolio. |
| AudioEye | automated versus developer-led versus managed remediation | A team is deciding between automated assistance, developer-led remediation and a managed service. | Automated, Self-Managed and Managed have different responsibilities. A general platform capability is not proof of a contracted expert service. |
| Siteimprove | enterprise accessibility governance and remediation | A distributed publishing team needs accessibility governance and a coordinated remediation workflow. | Accessibility is a configured offering here, not a verified tariff tier. Product documentation is not proof that expert services are included in your contract. |
| Silktide | website/PDF governance and specialist testing | A central web team needs ongoing governance with tasks and reporting across sites and documents. | Protect and Complete require organization-specific quotes. Specialist audits and services need an explicit written scope. |
US scope: a tool supports the work; it does not guarantee ADA compliance
The Department of Justice recommends combining automated checks with manual evaluation. A clean automated report does not establish that every journey is accessible. The linked general guidance is not a statement of current Title II implementation deadlines. Assess the rules that apply to your organization separately.
Accessibility AI: credits, permissions and page data
| Your question | What the evidence supports | Boundary to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Will Deque AI stop when credits run out? | Pro/Web subscriptions use seat-related monthly credits for selected advanced operations; unused credits expire. New charged work waits after exhaustion while in-flight work finishes and ordinary axe-core checks remain available. | Numeric allocation and additional-credit prices were not established. Classification of roles, table headers and form pairs is documented as not consuming credits; do not treat every AI operation as billable. |
| Does a local MCP process keep page data local? | Standard analyze runs locally, with authentication/configuration traffic. Remediation sends affected HTML and violation metadata. Enabled Advanced Rules can send a full-page screenshot and required page structure/styles. | Inspect the active preset before using private pages. Uploads for enabled Advanced Rules can occur even when the optional screenshot response was not requested; no network test was performed here. |
| Can administrators restrict Deque AI? | Organisation-level AI controls and user-override permissions are documented. Private-cloud operation needs the required ML/LLM connections; on-premises private AI needs a vendor discussion. | Feature availability and data-sharing controls are separate. Infrastructure may add cost; no plan-wide promise of local-only AI processing is made. |
| Must Silktide AI be enabled for governance? | Ordinary governance remains usable without AI providers enabled. Complete documents administrative AI-provider controls; relevant AI settings are required for AI-generated analysis. | Creating or accepting a recommended task does not itself edit the customer’s website. Separately permissioned AI actions and contract-specific scope must be checked. |

Build the same brief before requesting quotes
No comparable numeric subscription tariff was verified for these offers. Keep sites, templates, seats, authenticated journeys, PDFs, audit frequency and remediation responsibility in separate columns. A vendor's labor-savings calculator is not its price.
- Identify the journeys that matter: navigation, search, forms with errors, dialogs, checkout and documents. Include keyboard and assistive-technology use, not only an automated homepage scan.
- Name the owner of fixes. A tool that reports a barrier is different from a service contracted to repair it; confirm source-code changes, overlays and expert hours separately.
- Ask for a package-specific demonstration on an authorized fixture. Record detection, missed barriers, repair location, retest results and developer effort. We have not performed this test.
- Get a written scope for websites, authenticated content, PDF volume, seats, integrations, support hours, data processing, tax, renewal and any separate expert audit.
Before you migrate
- Export prior issues and their evidence before replacing a scanner.
- Retest repaired journeys after changing scripts or automated fixes; retain a rollback path.
- Keep a dated accessibility statement and a working feedback channel aligned with actual remediation.
How to evaluate AI claims
Deque’s documented AI credit rules and data flows depend on the operation and deployment. Ordinary local MCP analysis differs from enabled Advanced Rules or remediation. Silktide distinguishes administrative AI controls from ordinary governance. None of this establishes accuracy or an independently tested privacy outcome.
What we checked — and what we did not
System Compare compared dated public product pages, package descriptions and pricing documentation. This page was prepared with AI assistance from that evidence. No supplier account, endpoint deployment, recovery exercise, accessibility scanner or live consent configuration was tested. Supplier documentation is not independent performance evidence.
Human editorial sign-off and a final rating are not recorded. Unknown means the evidence does not settle the answer; it does not mean the feature is absent. Product-wide capabilities must not be assumed to be included in every offer.
Prices are observations, not quotations. Confirm currency, tax, usage units, renewal, setup charges and exact contract scope before purchase. No lowest-cost winner is declared across unlike workloads.
